Miami Heat survives in OT, take 2-0 series lead against Boston Celtics

Rajon Rondo of Boston Celtics had a career game with 44 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds, but it wasn’t enought as the Miami Heat rallied in overtime to claim Game 2 of best of seven Eastern Conference Finals, 115-111.

Dwyane Wade was sensational again in second half after scoring only 2 points in the first half. The Flash finished with 23 points, including the go-ahead basket and-one in closing seconds of overtime to give Miami five point lead.

Lebron James was his usual superb self with 34 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Heat was in constant attack that puts the Celtics in foul trouble. Paul Pierce fouled out of the game, together with Kenyon Dooling.

Rondo carried the visitors with superb numbers without any rest, displaying great shooting as the Heat intentionally left him open. Pierce added 21 and Ray Allen had a decent showing with 18 points.

Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals will be on Friday night (Saturday morning, Manila time) in Boston.

The trailer of the much-anticipated movie adaptation of the successful stage musical based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Miserables, has hit the web. The movie stars Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried and is set to hit theaters on December 2012.

John Prats - Bianca Manalo Break-up

Beauty queen-turned-television host-actress Bianca Manalo on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, reportedly confirmed that she and boyfriend actor-host John Prats have ended their seven-month-old relationship.

The John-Bianca split-up was allegedly caused by a third-party.

Rumor has it that Sexbomb dancer and “Banana Split” cast member Sunshine Garcia is the reason why John and Bianca called it quits two weeks ago.

There were unconfirmed reports that Sunshine and John became close to each other since they started working on the show and were apparently going out with their friends.

In an interview, however, Bianca denied reports that Sunshine had something to do with the breakup. The latter, on the other hand, told ABS-CBN’s “Bandila” that she doesn’t know why her name is being dragged in the issue.

Sunshine said Pratty is an amiable person. The ‘Banana Splitter’ also admitted that they were together in some photos, but insisted that their sweetness in those pictures is purely work-related. She denied being third-party to the break-up.

John, the “Bandila” report said, did not grant an interview.

May 2012 Dentist Board Exam Results

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 157 out of 511 passed the Dentist Licensure Examination (Written Phase) and 158 out of 162 passed the Dentist Licensure Examination (Practical Phase) given by the Board of Dentistry in Manila this May 2012.

The members of the Board of Dentistry are Dr. Gloria M. Bumanlag, Chairman; Dr. Melinda L. Garcia, Dr. Steve Mark G. Gan and Dr. Rannier F. Reyes, Members.

The results were released in two (2) working days after the last day of examinations.

Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on June 4, 2012 but not later than June 15, 2012. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2012-2015. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony of the new successful examinees in the said examination WILL BE ANNOUNCED LATER.

Corona Guilty, Convicted Under Impeachment Article 2

The Senate sitting as an impeachment court on Tuesday found Chief Justice Renato Corona guilty as charged under Article 2 of the impeachment complaint.

The votes have been taken on Article 2 of the eight articles in the impeachment complaint filed by the House of Representatives on December 12 last year.

Article 2 states that:

“RESPONDENT COMMITTED CULPABLE VIOLATION OF THE CONSTITUTION AND/OR BETRAYED THE PUBLIC TRUST WHEN HE FAILED TO DISCLOSE TO THE PUBLIC HIS STATEMENT OF ASSETS, LIABILITIES, AND NET WORTH AS REQUIRED UNDER SEC. 17, ART. XI OF THE 1987 CONSTITUTION.”

With 20 senator-judges voting for conviction as against only 3 voting for acquittal, it was very clear that majority thinks the Chief Justice failed to disclose all of his assets in his SALN.

Sixteen votes are required to convict, eight to acquit. The impeachment court’s decision is final and executory.

Tuesday’s event is historical. Corona is the first Chief Justice who was thrown out of his job through an impeachment trial.

Miami Wins Game 1 East Finals (2012 NBA Playoffs)

Lebron James and Dwyane Wade power Miami Heat in the 2nd half to take the 1-0 series lead over Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

 

The Heat dynamic duo combined for 54 of team’s 93 points, plus 16 boards, 10 dimes and 4 blocks. They scored spectacularly in one legged jumpers, tough weak hand reverses, and long step back fadeaways.

Miami’s supporting cast also came trough to help the stars with timely baskets. Shane Battier, Mario Chalmers and Mike Miller scored 10, 9 and 8 respectively.

On the other hand, Celtics shot poorly, on 39.5% shooting. Kevin Garnett led the team with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists, but got little help from Paul Pierce (12 points, 5-18 FG) and Ray Allen (6 points, 1-7 FG).

 
Miami vs Boston Game 2 will be on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila Time) at 8:30pm.

CJ Corona - Guilty or not Guilty?

The impeachment trial of the Philippines' chief justice, CJ Renato Corona, was ended Monday, May 28 (Day 43), bringing down the curtain on more than four months of divisive political drama that has gripped the nation.

Senator-judges ruled on the fate of Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona after hearing final arguments from prosecutors and the defense. A verdict will be declared tomorrow, Tuesday.

Prior to Verdict

Corona was impeached by Aquino's allies in the House of Representatives in December, which then sent the complaint to the Senate for resolution.

Corona however was backed by his peers in the judiciary amid warnings the president may have violated constitutional provisions in his zeal to remove the chief justice.

In his historic appearance in his own impeachment trial last May 22 delivering a three-hour long opening statement to answer the allegations hurled against him, Corona walked out after giving his statement, angering the presiding officer and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.

Miss Philippines Earth Winner is Stephany Stefanowitz

Stephany Stefanowitz of Quezon City was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2012 at the Center Stage, Mall of Asia in Pasig on Sunday, May 27, 2012.

Stefanowitz, a 2nd-timer at Miss Philippines Earth bested 46 other candidates who represented various cities, municipalities, provinces, and Filipino communities abroad.

She will represent the country in the Miss Earth 2012 pageant in Indonesia in October.

The pageant had Marc Nelson, Rovilson Fernandez and Ginger Conejero as presenters. It was aired on ABS-CBN.

Kim Chiu and Xian Lim flew to Carson, California last Friday for a special concert happening Saturday night, May 26 (Sunday AM, May 27 MLA time).

The concert, which is a fundraising event by ABS-CBN Foundation Int'l, will feature Kim and Xian alongside bigtime music artists Martin Nieverra, Bamboo, Charice and 'The Voice' Filipina finalist Cheesa Laureta.

It will be held at the Tennis Stadium of Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

PBB Teen 4: Myrtle and Tom shine during the “Build a Big Dream Concert”

The teen housemates’ Build a Big Dream Concert was aired in tonight’s episode of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Season 4.

Edward, the student of Mababoy Elementary School that was flown to Manila to watch the concert, sang a high-pitched version of May Bukas Pa that I was sure gave everyone goosebumps despite the pitchy-ness. It was perhaps to inspire the housemates into giving their best in the concert since the said elementary school was the recipient of the event’s proceeds.

The teens were surprised to see most of their loved ones in the audience, even the ones who declined their invitations when they called them up in the previous episode.

They had various dance numbers, with the Alpha G’s (Kit Thompson, Ryan Boyce, Roy Requejo and Tom Doromal) performance wearing colorful wigs as one of the most fun to watch.

Myrtle Sarrosa showed on national television that she can sing by performing Anne Curtis’ Tinamaan Ako while doing a funny skit with Kit, Yves and Tom. Her vibrato was cool, reminds me of Yeng Contantino’s.

Ryan also sang and played the guitar with extra strums between lines. Roy sang an out-of-tune version of a Tagalog rock song, and the twins Joj and Jai Agpangan did a cute version of an English pop song.

What’s surprising and cute was Tom’s solo dance number. He was so adorable doing the dougie. I just wished he did it with Yves. The two stood out during the boys’ dance production number earlier.

Karen Reyes, Kit, Myrtle, Ryan and Alec Dungo did the cosplay and danced to Hot Issue. Karen was a pretty mage while Myrtle was a goddess. The assassin costume was perfect for Alec while Kit and Ryan were funny in their Boy Yelo and Boy Kidlat costumes respectively.

The concert ended with the gang dancing to Kabataang Pinoy wearing retro clothes.

The whole event became a vehicle for the teens to showcase what artistic talents they’ve got. Some excelled in singing, some in dancing, and some in hosting. Majority of the teens can deliver spiels but I especially liked the twins, Joj and Jai, despite their regional accents.

As I’ve said above, Tom and Yves danced well. The cameras loved them, too, you can imagine them dancing on variety shows. Heartthrobs in the making? I really hope they did a dance off during the concert.

But, of course, you cannot discount the fact that Myrtle and Karen outshined the other girls in dancing as well. And Karen did the choreographies so we can say she’s really talented in that aspect.

And do I have to also repeat that Myrtle could really sing?

But whether Big Brother liked the concert or not, we will find out tomorrow during the live eviction episode. That said, I’m sure everyone’s cringing to find out who among Kit, Yves and Alec will be going out of the house tomorrow.

A new video showing Mon Tulfo and Claudine Barretto with one of her male companions during the controversial NAIA incident has surfaced and was aired by Aksyon, a TV5 news program.



The video shows Mon having a confrontation with Claudine (whose back was turned to the camera but was obviously her when compared to the first video that came out) and one of the actress’ male friends in a pink shirt.

The short video showed the pink clad male hitting Mon in the head with his left hand.
It was obviously a scene before the fist-fight that was shown on the first video, and it somehow showed who started the physical fight.

The same pink-clad male was the one who assaulted Mon in the first video.

VIRAL: Little Girl Cries Over Jessica Sanchez loss on American Idol!

Laney, an American girl, cried when Jessica Sanchez who was obviously her favorite contestant didn’t win American Idol 11.
She’s so affected when the name of Phillip Phillips was declared as the winner that she couldn’t help but cry.

You could even hear the sound of the television in the background with Phillip singing Home right after his win.



The crying girl was recorded on video by her mom and immediately uploaded it on YouTube, with a description that says: “This is our daughter after the results for American Idol 2012 when Philip Philips won.”

Anne Curtis leaves ‘It’s Showtime’ for Hollywood?

Kapamilya actress and TV host Anne Curtis will be out of ‘It’s Showtime’ for one month to pursue a career opportunity.

Anne Curtis was very emotional as she made the special announcement in the show last Wednesday, May 23, 2012. She did not give any details about the reason for the leave, but rumors have it that she was picked to portray a role in a Hollywood.

Host Ogie Diaz tweeted that a famous casting director in Hollywood picked the Filipina-Australian actress for a full length movie role. Via @ogiediaz: Truth: naghahanap ng isang Pinay ang isang sikat na Hollywood casting director at si Anne Curtis ang napili. Excited si Anne.

But Curtis replied to Diaz via @annecurtissmith: @ogiediaz Mali po kayo

So if Diaz is wrong, what’s that “something to do with pursuing her dream” that Anne is embarking on? We’ll find out soon, but surely Showtime and fans will miss her presence during noontime.

Yahoo Launches Its Own Web Browser Axis And Makes Searching More Visual

Google isn’t the only web browser in town anymore. Yahoo launches its own web browser last Wednesday evening and calling it Axis.

Yahoo is working relentlessly on the web-browsing arena to connect your experiences across devices by giving you exactly the same information no matter what device you are using on. It is in this underlying principle that gave Yahoo the idea of integrating both mobile iOS and computer web-browsing capabilities to streamline your searches in between devices. Thus, it gave way to the birth of Axis.

Visual previews in Axis eliminates the traditional step of looking web searches in the form of links and replaces the experience with an image of the website you’re be looking into. Interesting enough, alternate searches can be done without leaving the present page you are on. Sweet, right? Well, anyways let’s keep ourselves with the tracks.




Axis on an iOS device

With iOS, you can tap the Axis Bar and bring up a list of trending searches (an Axis tech-defining feature is the integration of the search box and address bar into one, so to say). You can either tap the trending search results to learn more or search your own term using the bar.

Answers will automatically appear for common searches like movies, news, and weather- often allowing you to see the what you’re looking for without leaving the page you’re on.
On the other hand, for other searches the browser will create a row of visual previews to websites that matched your specific query.  You can swipe through the results and tap on the one you are looking for, or swipe across the screen to look for more searches in case you are not interested of your recent selection.

Then there is what Yahoo considered device connectivity. It works like this- an Axis homepage gives you access to the sites you’ve recently visited not only on your iOS device, but on your computer and other devices with running Axis. This means that the homepage you access in your iPad will show a website frequently visited on your iPhone or the ones you’ve check out while browsing at home. Axis creates this feature so you won’t lose your track of your favorite sites.   Axis is a plug-in for your favorite web browser rather than a stand-alone product of its own when you use the computer. Available for Chrome, Firefox, IE, and Safari, the Axis toolbar shows up at the bottom of your web-browser and does pretty much the same as your iOS device. It can preview images of sites and look up to any searches without leaving your page.



The homepage is also located within your browser and can let you look at favorite sites and continue viewing your iOS searches.

“ATM” to be shown locally on June 6; Chantavit Dhanasevi promotes movie in Manila

Star Cinema has just uploaded the trailer for ATM, a Thai movie starring Chantavit Dhanasevi and Preechaya Pongthananikorn. To be locally distributed by the ABS-CBN film production company, it will be shown in Philippine theaters on June 6, 2012.

ATM is directed by Mes Tharatorn and was released in Thailand last January 19.

The Philippine release of ATM was revealed by Star Cinema over Twitter. “The highest grossing movie of Thailand this 2012 will b released by Star Cinema in d Phils. Watch the trailer of ATM at http://ow.ly/b7ost”

The movie outfit then tweeted that they will be giving away free tickets to the premiere night happening on June 3rd. “We will be giving away tickets to the premiere night of ATM soon, happening on June 3 (Sunday) at 5pm. Stay tuned for the mechanics.”

Reports that the Chantavit Dhanasevi, who was also in Hello Stranger, will also come to the Philippines to promote the movie which will be subtitled in English for its Philippine release.

“Call Me Maybe” music video FEAT. Anne Curtis and friends goes viral

Last February, a crazy and fun music video featuring Hollywood celebrities, such as Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and more, was uploaded on YouTube. Since then, the video became viral reaching to 39M+ views. Also, several groups of people uploaded their own version of the music video, adding to the popularity of the video.

The music video was for the song Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, who also starred in the said video. In the interview with Selena Gomez, she said that she and her friends were just hanging out when they thought of making the music video, which they uploaded online, never expecting that it would be this crazy.

One of the most recent adaptation for Gomez and her friend’s video featured some Pinoy celebrities, high fashion models, fashion designers and TV hosts. They are Anne Curtis, Georgina Wilson, Isabelle Daza, Solenn Heusaff, Liz Uy, Bea Soriano, Carla Humphries, Raymond Gutierrez, Erwan Heusaff, Borgy Manotoc, Adrien Semblat, Nico Bolzivo, Eric Dee and with a special participation of Pinoy Champ Manny Pacquiao. The video, edited by Miguel Lugtu, was uploaded on YouTube on May 21.

In just two days after it was uploaded, the video reached to an overwhelming 91,000+ views. It is expected to gain even more views in the coming days.

Twenty-one year old American singer Phillip Phillips was proclaimed as the winner of American Idol Season 11 during the singing competition’s results night at the Nokia Theater on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

Phillip got a record-breaking 132 million online and text votes from AI fans and viewers.

During the performance night on May 22, 2012, he sang “Stand By Me,” “Movin Out,” and his winning song “Home,” where he got a standing ovation from the judges and live audience for having a great production number that included the use of a marching band.

Chief Justice Corona ‘Walk Out’ Video

For the first time, Chief Justice Renato Corona took the witness stand in the impeachment trial at the Senate on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. He delivered a three-hour long opening statement to deny allegations hurled against him.

Emotional, the Chief Justice signed a waiver allowing the public disclosure of his dollar accounts, but he said he will only submit the waiver if all 188 congressmen who signed in the impeachment complaint as well as Senator Frank Drilon, who he accused of getting biased, have “signed their own waivers.”

To the surprise of senator-judges, the prosecution and defense panels and everyone else watching, Corona suddenly stood up and left the session hall.

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile ordered all Senate entry points locked. “With all due respect to the chief justice, we have not yet discharged him!” the Senate President said.

Corona’s son-in-law Dr. Jojo Castillo revealed that the Chief Justice had a “hypoglycemic episode,” also known as an insulin reaction or blood sugar low.

“My father-in-law has diabetes and he wasn’t able to take his lunch. He mentioned blurring vision at the end of his testimony,” Castillo told reporters.

Spurs Sweep Clippers, Advance To Conference Finals

The San Antonio Spurs is already included in the western conference finals after sweeping the Los Angeles Clippers, 4-0, in the conference semifinals of the 2012 NBA Playoffs.
