Reigning WBC Welterweight Champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has become the new WBA (Super) Light Middleweight Champion after he defeated Miguel Cotto in their match at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
Mayweather is now a six-division world champion. He remains an undefeated boxer.
With the win, Mayweather currently holds the boxing record: 43 Wins, (26 Wins by KO), 0 Losses and 0 Draws in 43 fights, while Cotto had 37 Wins (30 Wins by KO), 3 Losses, 0 Draws in 40 fights.
In the post-fight interview at the ring, Mayweather said he wants to fight Filipino champ Manny Pacquiao in the fall.
