ABS-CBN is set to release its 2013 Summer Station ID. The full video of “Kwento ng Summer Natin,” which features hundreds of Kapamilya stars, will premiere on Sunday, April 7, on ASAP 18.
The network has allowed fans to have a sneak peek by uploading photos and presenting the concept behind the ABS-CBN Summer Station ID 2013, as follows:
ABS-CBN’s highly anticipated summer station ID is going down memory lane decade by decade to relive the biggest shows and pop culture trends over the past 60 years.
In celebration of six decades of Philippine television, Kapamilya stars will relive memories of the most popular programs that have left a mark on Filipinos over the years.
Set to air in full on Sunday during the concert variety program “ASAP 18,” the summer station ID carries the theme “Kwento ng Summer Natin,” with Sam Milby and Angeline Quinto performing the theme song.
Opening the montage of “summer memories” are Piolo Pascual and Bea Alonzo, who will appear with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra led by Maestro Gerard Salonga, in a 1950s setting.
“Ina, Kapatid, Anak” stars Enchong Dee and Maja Salvador, meanwhile, will travel back to the 1960s as they relive the tandem in “The Nida and Nestor Show.”
Paulo Avelino will join Milby and Quinto in a tribute to “D’ Sensations” of the 1970s, which delighted fans with the love teams of Vilma Santos and Edgar Mortiz, and Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III.
The 1980s flashback will feature Pokwang as Alma Moreno as the tangga-wearing performer in “LoveliNess,” and former couple Rayver Cruz and Cristine Reyes as the duo of “Tonight with Dick and Carmi.”
“Chika Chika Chicks” will also be featured in the Kapamilya summer station ID, with “It’s Showtime” beauties Anne Curtis, Karylle and Coleen Garcia going sun-bathing. They will be joined by their noontime co-hosts Jhong Hilario, Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz and Kim Atienza.
Kapamilya viewers who grew up in the 1990s will turn nostalgic with the “Goin’ Bulilit” kids recreating the “Esmyuskee” skit popularized by the kiddie gag show “Ang TV.” Joining the current generation of child stars is former child wonder and “Ang TV” mainstay Angelica Panganiban.
The actress’ real-life boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz, meanwhile, will revisit his “Tabing Ilog” days, which made a mark among teens in the ‘90s.
Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, meanwhile, will take inspiration from the wildly popular love team of Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales as in the 2000 hit series “Pangako Sa’yo.”
As a throwback to the decade when ABS-CBN still aired US syndicated programs, Kapamilya stars Diether Ocampo, Rosales, Jake Cuenca, Matteo Guidicelli, Jason Abalos and Angel Locsin will don lifeguard uniforms, as inspired by the series “Baywatch.”
It was also in the last decade when “Asianovelas” first made waves in the Philippines with ABS-CBN’s airing of “Meteor Garden.” Taking on the roles of San Chai and Dao Ming Su in the station ID are Kim Chiu and Xian Lim, respectively.
Jessy Mendiola, meanwhile, will take inspiration from the popular Mexican TV star Thalia as the Kapamilya actress takes on the role of the title character in the hit telenovela “Maria Mercedes.”
Aside from the most popular TV programs of the last 60 years, ABS-CBN’s summer station ID will also highlight the biggest dance hits over the years, including “Otso Otso,” “Katawan” from the sitcom “Palibahasang Lalake,” and “Pinoy Ako” from the reality show “Pinoy Big Brother.”
Catchphrases that have also made a mark on Filipino televiewers will also be heard in the video, including “Hoy, gising!,” “Handa na ba kayo?” and “I-Dawn Zulueta mo ako!”
The “Kwento ng Summer Natin” theme song features lyrics by Lloyd Corpuz, Mike Sales, Tess Perez-Mendoza, and music by Marcus and Amber Davis.
