Jessica Sanchez is American Idol 2012 runner-up

Filipina-Mexican singer Jessica Sanchez was proclaimed as the runner-up (2nd placer) of American Idol Season 11 during the singing competition’s results night event at the Nokia Theater on Wednesday, May 22, 2012. She lost to Idol 2012 winner Phillip Phillips.

On May 22, 2012, the 16-year-old performer sang “I Have Nothing,” “The Prayer,” and original song “Change Nothing.”

Jessica’s stint on American Idol made history. She is the first recipient of the Judges’ Save to make the Top 2, the youngest and first contestant with Filipino descent to become an American Idol runner-up.

On a light note: It was very coincidental that in that Randy Jackson “Phonebook” song performed by the AI Top 12, which was featured on “Idol Moments,” Adam Lambert, David Archuleta, then Jessica Sanchez, all 1st runner up winners, appeared.
