If you haven’t hooked up your iDevice to the Internet for some time, now’s the perfect moment to get back online. It’s because the iOS 8—Apple’s biggest iOS release ever—is here and ready for download.
iOS 8 software update sports quite a number of new features and improvements, the highlights of which are listed below:
- Messaging – Users can now add voice recordings, short videos, and their current location to any conversation.
- Keyboard – Third-party developers can now introduce their own keyboards. Early adopters include the popular Swype keyboard. Apple has also implemented predictive texts.
- Continuity – The new Handoff feature allows continuing any work done on a Mac computer to an iOS device and vice versa. Supported applications include Mail, Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar, and Contacts.
- Family Sharing – Content purchased from iTunes, iBooks, and the App Store can now be shared with up to six people in the family.
Like with the radical iOS 7 update, the iOS 8 can be downloaded for free by going to your iDevice’s Software Update section in Settings. iOS 8 is compatible the iPhone 4S, the iPad 2, fifth-generation iPod Touch, and newer devices.
