Bagyong Karen Latest Update




State's weather bureau centre says the country's east coast is bracing for the arrival of Tropical Depression Karen, which is likely to intensify as a tropical storm within the next 6 to 12 hours.

In the latest weather update of PAGASA issued at 11 p.m., the Active Low Pressure Area (ALPA) East of Mindanao has developed into a Tropical Depression and was named "KAREN".


PAGASA said Bagyong Karen has estimated rainfall amount from 10 - 20 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

At 11:00 a.m., today, Tropical Depression Karen was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 700 km East of Tandag, Surigao Del Sur (9.0°N, 133.4°E) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
