Philippine Cinema’s Comedy King Dolphy was laid to rest at the Heritage Park in Taguig City on July 15, 2012.
The funeral was closed to the public. Only his family, relatives and close friends were allowed to attend.
Everyone
wore white except for Dolphy’s long-time partner Zsa Zsa Padilla who
wore a simple black dress. It was a very emotional moment when she
hugged and kissed the casket.
Dolphy’s casket was put inside the
tomb at around 2:20 PM. The priest led everyone in saying, “Mang
Dolphy, masaya kami na kay Lord ka na.” Afterwhich, Dolphy’s family and
friends awarded him with a warm applause.
It was a very
organized and very solemn funeral, and as showbiz reporter Nelson Canlas
of GMA News observed, everyone went quiet while the casket was being
inserted inside the tomb.
In a short speech, Zsa Zsa thanked
everyone who sympathized with them. And to Dolphy, she said, “Maraming
salamat sa pagmamahal na ibinigay mo sa amin. I love you, Lovie Ko.
Until we meet again.”
Before the interment, necrological
services for Dolphy was held at 10 AM. And although the public was not
allowed to attend the funeral, Dolphy’s family allowed media cameras to
be set up so the public could watch the proceedings on television and on
the internet via video streaming. GMA News TV streamed their coverage
on YouTube.
