The iPhone 5 is shipping to stores in the US on September 21, 2012, reports quoting sources close to Apple say.
Rumor has it that the upcoming iPhone version will sport a 3.75-inch screen and a port on its base, the function of which has yet to be revealed.
According to reports, the iPhone 5 will run on iOS 6 that features an updated version of its virtual assistant, Siri. It is said to come with personalization options including a ‘do-not-disturb’ mode that users can set up while taking a rest or attending an important meeting.
The new iPhone will have Apple’s new 3D Maps pre-installed with its upgraded operating software, reports say.

4G/LTE connectivity is expected to be one of the latest additions to iPhone 5 features. If the rumor will prove to be true, then a 4G-enabled iPhone 5 is the second Apple device that will bring the 4th generation of mobile communications standards to smartphone users, next to the iPad 3.
The iPhone 5, reports say, will possibly include a Near Field Communication or NFC chip in it. With NFC, the new iPhone 5 can be used as a debit or credit card in making payments anywhere throughout the world.
It’s been said that Apple will come into partnership with Paypass or MasterCard in order to incorporate the NFC technology into the iPhone 5.
